NEWS - July 9th 2014 >> Our next Extra Dirty October Long weekend

NEWS - July 9th 2014 >>
>> Our next Extra Dirty will be on Saturday 4th October at the Midnight Shift Club. More details about our DJ line-up will be announced soon. Stay tuned ...   And great news about "The Shift" being taken off the market. This ensures that Extra Dirty has an Oxford Street home for the foreseeable future. We're very happy about that!

>> Photos from our June long weekend party are now online and can be viewed in our Photo Gallery. Thanks to Marc Bernsden. Great images mate.

>> This week we're launching the very first episode of our Extra Dirty Sounds series. We'll be sending you a fortnightly recommendation via our e-newletter of the hottest tech house and techno mixes from around the globe. Some of the mixes we'll feature will be from DJs and Producers well-known to you, others not, but we hope that we can point you the direction of some hot mixes.

Our first featured mix comes from Madrid's D-FORMATION. He's one of the world's foremost producers of tribal, tech and techno and his DJ sets are deep, grinding and very sexy. This set is from his recent performance at The Endup in California.

The second mix is from a relative new-comer, LOWER, from Barcelona. Our good mate Javier Medina recently featured him on his monthly podcast The Switch. Lower's style is again deep and sexy but perhaps with a minimal or dub techno twist. With this mix you also get the added bonus of a JAVIER MEDINA set in the second hour, where he ups the energy with a more driving techno style.

It's no accident that so many of the DJs and Producers we love come from Spain. This region seems to produce a sound that has consistently informed the Extra Dirty dance-floor beginning with underground tribal through to it's modern incarnation of tech house and techno. Whereas the first generation of techno in the 90s thrashed us with an unrelenting beat usually played upwards of 135 bpm, today's techno seems to have matured (along with the rest of us) and is now slower and lower. Just the way we like it at Extra Dirty.

We hope you enjoy these mixes and of course if you know of a cracking mix you'd like to recommend, please shoot it through to us - we might even feature it in a future episode.

>> And finally, Thank you. Due to your support Extra Dirty has once again been able to make an annual donation to the Black Dog Institute - a world leader in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mood discorders such as depression and bipolar discorder. Without you this is not possible, so THANK YOU. To find out more about how your donation helps to make a difference go to www.blackdoginstitute.org.au
